An agreement has been signed between Purbanchal University (PU) and the Citizen Investment Trust (CIT) regarding the management and operation of the gratuity and pension fund. The agreement was signed on Sunday with the objective of providing gratuity and pension benefits to teachers and staff serving at the university.
At a program organized at the central office in Gothgaon, the agreement was signed by PU’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Bijukumar Thapaliya, and the Executive Director of the CIT, Parbat Kumar Karki. PU’s Chief of Financial Administration, Khagendra Raj Dhakal, and the CIT’s Deputy Director and Head of the Biratnagar Office, Taranath Bhattarai, were present as witnesses.
Speaking at the event, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Thapaliya stated that the agreement with the Citizen Investment Trust was made to provide gratuity and pension benefits to university employees. Noting that there has been ongoing cooperation between the university and the Trust, he expressed his belief that, based on the services and benefits provided by the Trust, this collaboration could be further expanded in the future.
Executive Director Karki of the CIT expressed happiness over the agreement, stating that the Trust has been responsible for managing retirement funds for public servants. He informed that, according to the agreement, teachers and staff who received permanent appointments at the university after October 6, 2018 (Ashoj 20, 2075 B.S.), would be entitled to various benefits provided by the Trust.
Similarly, PU Registrar Mr. Neelmani Pokharel emphasized that both the university and the CIT would benefit from the agreement, highlighting the need for effective implementation.
In the program, which was conducted by Senior Officer Rajkumar Sapkota, Chief Officer Narayana Prasad Dahal shed light on the agreement and its operational procedures.
The event was attended by PU officials, including Prof. Dr. Medini Prasad Sharma, Executive Director of the Curriculum Research and Development Center; Prof. Dr. Meenraj Dhakal, Executive Director of the Research Center; Dr. Uttam Kumar Regmi, Executive Director of the Monitoring and Evaluation Center; Dr. Komal Prasad Dulal, Head of the Planning Division; Mr. Yagya Prasad Jamarkattel, President of PU Teacher's Association, as well as Chief Officers Phanindra Raj Gautam, Navin Raj Pokharel, Tek Prasad Adhikari, and Financial Administration Head Dhakal, among others. From the CIT’s side, Deputy Director and Biratnagar Office Head Bhattarai and other officials participated in the event.
