VC Dr. Thapalia extends warm wishes on Bhanu Jayanti celebration

Purbanchal University's Vice-Chancellor Dr. Biju Kumar Thapalia extended his gratitude honoring the legacy of the great Nepali poet Bhanubhakta Acharya.

"On this special day, we honor and remember the incomparable contributions of Bhanubhakta, as we express our sincere respect to him, the shining star of Nepali literary", says VC Dr. Thapalia.

Famously known as the Adhikavi, Bhanubhakta Acharya is celebrated in Nepal for his contribution to the Nepali language. Adhikavi's poetry in Nepali language remains the household rhythms and slogans, esp. among the literary fraternity and school children. All credit goes to Bhanubhakta who simplified the words and meanings and made literature accessible to everyone in Nepal. He was the first poet in Nepali language history to convey the core of feeling inside the alphabetic structure of Nepali words and language.

Bhanubhakta transcribed the entire Ramayana from Sanskrit language into simple Nepali. One of the most famous literary work by him, Ghansi poem is the inspiration about Grass-cutter.

Not only in Nepal, his birth anniversary is marked by the vast Nepalese community outside the country, esp. in the North East India. People in Darjeeling-Sikkim region pays tribute by organizing literary festivals dedicated to the Adhikavi. Bhanubhakta was born on 13th July 1814 in the village of Chundi Ramgha, Tanahu District in Nepal.
