PU Marks 31st Annual Day with Enthusiasm and Pride

Gothgaun, January 4, 2025 – Purbanchal University celebrated its 31st Annual Day today at its central office in Gothgaun with a vibrant program that reflected its legacy and aspirations. The event was chaired by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Biju Kumar Thapalia, with Registrar Mr. Nilmani Pokharel , and brought together, faculty, staff, and stakeholders to honor the university’s achievements and contributions to higher education in Nepal. The celebration commenced with warm welcoming remarks and reflections on the institution’s milestones, as speakers emphasized its transformative impact on academia and society. Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Thapalia highlighted the university's role in shaping Nepal's academic landscape, fostering innovation, and addressing societal challenges, while Registrar Mr. Pokharel praised the collective efforts of faculty, staff, and students in advancing the university's mission. Contributions from deans Prof. Debi Prasad Bhattarai, Prof. Dr. Pawan Kumar Jha, Prof. Dr. Anil Kumar Pokharel, and Dr. Shailesh Mani Pokharel, as well as executive directors Prof. Dr. Minraj Dhakal, Prof. Dr. Medini Prasad Sharma, Dr. Uttam Kumar Regmi, and Dr. Komal Prasad Dulal, enriched the event.
A highlight of the program was the recognition of outstanding contributions through various awards. Winners of the Annual Sports Week, which saw active participation from faculty and staff of constituent colleges and the PU Teaching Hospital, were honored for their achievements and teamwork. Long-service awards were presented to faculty members Dr. Sandess Das Shrestha, Dr. Komal Prasad Dulal, Dr. Krishna Prasad Panday, Dr. Tirtha Raj Sapkota, Mr. Yuwaraj Dhital, Ms. Sonila Shakya, Mr. Rajesh Agrawal, and Mr. Prashanta Kumar Lal, along with staff members Mr. Hem Bahadur Raut, Mr. Man Bahadur Khadka, and Mr. Milan Kumar Gurung, for their dedicated service of over 20 years. Special honors included the Best Faculty Member award presented to Ms. Rita Pradhan from the PU School of Health Sciences, Best Staff Awards given to Mr. Raj Kumar Bastola of PU Janata Campus and Mr. Gagan Mudiyari of the PU Examination Management Office, and the Best College Award bestowed upon Namuna College of Fashion Technology, Kathmandu for its exemplary performance. The program was expertly hosted by Mr. Rajkumar Sapkota, Mr. Dipesh Bastola, and Mr. Phadindra Raj Gautam, with Deputy Dean Dipty Subba coordinating the event.
Throughout the day, speakers highlighted the pivotal role of Purbanchal University in enhancing the accessibility and quality of higher education in Nepal, fostering a skilled workforce, and contributing to national development. The celebration concluded with attendees inspired by the university’s achievements and optimistic about its future endeavors, reaffirming the institution’s commitment to shaping Nepal's academic and professional landscapes with dedication, collaboration, and excellence.
