PU Celebrates 13th Convocation

Purbanchal University marked a significant milestone with its 13th convocation ceremony, held amidst great enthusiasm and pride at its premises in Gothgaun, Sundarharaicha Municipality, Morang, Nepal. The event, presided over by the Right Honorable Prime Minister and Chancellor of Purbanchal University, Mr. K.P. Sharma Oli, was graced by Chief Guest Dr. Gauri Shankar Lal Das, a centenarian and renowned figure in medicine and social justice. The ceremony brought together 8,150 graduates, along with esteemed faculty members, dignitaries, invited guests, journalists and guardians, creating an atmosphere of celebration and accomplishment. Out of the graduates, 6,887 received Bachelor’s degrees, 1,262 attained Master’s degrees, and one accomplished an M.Phil. Since its establishment, Purbanchal University has now proudly produced a cumulative total of 81,275 graduates.
The convocation was a well-coordinated event, smoothly conducted by Registrar Mr. Nilmani Pokharel. Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Biju Kumar Thapalia delivered the welcome address at the ceremony, emphasizing the university’s unwavering commitment to academic excellence. In his welcome remarks, Prof. Thapalia urged the government to support the establishment of medical college at the university, highlighting its potential to revolutionize healthcare education in Nepal. Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Thapalia expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the honorable Chancellor, Chief Guest, senate members, invited guests, the Purbanchal University examination authority, university officials, faculty members, staff, and students for their support in organizing the convocation, while also extending his congratulations to the graduates on their successful achievement. Deans Dr. Shailesh Mani Pokharel and Dr. Sandess Das Shrestha announced the grace list, which had been approved by the convocation senate meeting. 
Prime Minister Mr. K. P. Sharma Oli, in his role as Chancellor, awarded gold medals to 17 outstanding students, and graduated one M.Phil. student, in recognition of their academic achievements. He also inaugurated newly constructed buildings for the GP Koirala Center for Agriculture and Research and the Purbanchal University School of Health Sciences, symbolizing the government’s dedication to enhancing educational infrastructure. Additionally, he announced plans to establish a medical college at Purbanchal University in a well-organized way in the near future.
The ceremony was enriched by the inspiring words of Chief Guest Dr. Gauri Shankar Lal Das, who delivered a heartfelt and motivational address. He emphasized the importance of education, human rights, and social justice, urging graduates to lead dignified lives and contribute meaningfully to society. Dr. Das also appreciated the contribution of Purbanchal University to higher education in Nepal. 
In conclusion, the beautiful premises of Purbanchal University were adorned with cheerful faces and a festive atmosphere, filled with celebration and joy.
